Wilfried Gottschalch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wilfried Gottschalch (born January 18, 1929 in Dresden ; † July 24, 2006 in Bussum ) was a German teacher, social scientist and educationalist. His writings on political socialization were standard reading at German universities in the 1970s and 1980s.

Live and act

In 1949, at the age of twenty, Gottschalch became a junior teacher at a vocational school in the GDR , but later went to West Berlin. There he became a member of the Socialist Youth of Germany - Die Falken and had been a professor at the University of Education since 1963 . Since 1971 he has taught at what was then the Reform University in Bremen ; 1977 Gottschalch was also one of the signatories of an obituary written under the pseudonym "Mescalero" for the Federal Prosecutor General Siegfried Buback, who was murdered by the RAF . The "Mescalero" affair was followed by disciplinary measures against those university employees who did not want to distance themselves. As a result of these measures, which restricted his work, he moved to the University of Amsterdam at the end of the 1970s , where he became professor of theoretical andragogy .

Finally, he participated in the development of socio-educational teaching at the TU Chemnitz and the TU Dresden , where he was active as an honorary professor . But he kept his residence in the Netherlands; his grave is in Bussum (North Holland).

According to Lothar Böhnisch , psychoanalysis was the "structural grid" of social and educational science thinking with Gottschalch, whereby he applied it not with therapeutic, but political motivation. With his fundamental criticism of the socialization conditions , he has become an outsider in the academic discourse.
