Wilfried Lorenz (doctor)
Wilfried Lorenz (born May 28, 1939 in Eschenbach ; † October 24, 2014 in Sulzbach-Rosenberg ) was a German physician .
Life
Lorenz studied medicine at the Universities of Würzburg , Tübingen and Munich and received his doctorate in Munich in 1965. In 1969 he received his habilitation for clinical chemistry in Munich . In 1970 the University of Marburg appointed him professor and head of the department for experimental surgery and pathological biochemistry at the surgical clinic of the university hospital. Most recently he was director of the Institute for Theoretical Surgery at the University of Marburg from 1998 . From 1999 to 2004 Wilfried Lorenz was chairman of the "Standing Commission Guidelines" of the AWMF . After his retirement in 2004, Lorenz moved to Regensburg for family reasons , where he worked as a consultant at the tumor center .
In total, he has published over 1000 scientific papers.
In 2005 Lorenz received the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany . In November 2010 he was awarded the Euricius Cordus Medal of the Marburg University Medicine for his life's work.
Lorenz is the namesake of the Wilfried Lorenz Health Services Research Prize of the German Network Health Services Research eV (DNVF), which is to be announced annually and was awarded for the first time in 2015.
He was married and had children.
