Wilhelm Alfred Eckhardt

Wilhelm Alfred Eckhardt (born January 27, 1929 in Kiel ; † July 4, 2019 in Marburg ) was a German historian and archivist .

Life

Eckhardt attended the Beethoven-Gymnasium Bonn and received the Matura at the Academic Gymnasium Graz . He studied law and philology at the Philipps University of Marburg . He became active in the Corps Teutonia Marburg and reciprocated on February 10, 1949 . In 1953 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . In 1956 he went to the Hessian State Archives in Marburg as an archive assessor . There he became chief archive director and director of the state archive in 1981. At the same time he headed the archive school in Marburg . In 1962 he became a member of the Historical Commission for Hesse . Retired in 1994 , he was the owner of the Trautvetter & Fischer Nachf. Publishing house in Witzenhausen . Eckhardt presented numerous editions on legal history.

Wilhelm A. Eckhardt is the son of the legal historian Karl August Eckhardt and the brother of the archivist Albrecht Eckhardt .
