Wilhelm Bauer (economist)

Wilhelm Bauer (born March 19, 1904 in Nuremberg , † July 4, 1974 in Munich ) was a German economist .

From 1950 to 1971 Wilhelm Bauer headed the Rhenish-Westphalian Institute for Economic Research . In 1961 he was appointed honorary professor for empirical economic research at the University of Cologne . In 1964 he was appointed a member of the newly created council of experts to assess macroeconomic developments and shortly thereafter elected its first chairman. His successor as chairman of the council was Norbert Kloten in March 1970 . Bauer remained a member of the Advisory Council until his death in 1974.
