Wilhelm Birnbaum
Wilhelm Birnbaum (born September 25, 1895 in Berlin ; † October 5, 1980 there ) was a German politician of the SPD .
Wilhelm Birnbaum attended elementary school and trained as a typesetter . From 1913 he worked as a typesetter and joined the SPD. In 1915 he was drafted . After the First World War , he trained as a welfare worker and from 1923 worked as a city youth worker at the Treptow district office . With the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists , Birnbaum was dismissed in 1933 and then worked with his wife in a stationery store.
After the Second World War , Birnbaum immediately became an administrative employee at the Neukölln district office . In the Berlin election in 1948 he was elected to the city council of Greater Berlin , but resigned after three months because he was district councilor for youth in the Neukölln district. In the following election in 1950 he was re-elected to the Berlin House of Representatives, but left again after three months, as he was again district councilor for youth in the Neukölln district. Birnbaum was in office until 1959, when he was succeeded by Fritz Votava (SPD).
