Wilhelm Blanke (architect)
Wilhelm Blanke (* 1859 , † 1945 in Bremen ; full name: Johann Wilhelm Blanke ) was a German architect and building contractor in Bremen. Many of his buildings are on the Bremen list of monuments .
biography
Blanke was initially a construction technician. As an architect and building contractor, he executed around 500 buildings in Bremen. His company on Horner Strasse also employed a number of architects. His main creative period was from 1890 to 1930. The construction company was dissolved in the 1930s.
Many buildings survived the Second World War and many are now listed . The Reddersen house in Bremen- Horn was destroyed . He shaped Bremen structurally with his residential buildings at the turn of the century, including in the style of neoclassicism , partly historicizing but also with some Art Nouveau elements . His clients almost always came from the upper class, and so he mainly built in the Schwachhausen district of Bremen . In 1899/1900 he oversaw a comprehensive modernization of the building at Kohlhökerstraße 52 in Bremen- Mitte .
Blanke was born with Gesine Blanke Vaguely married. He was buried in the Riensberg cemetery (No. F0009).
