Wilhelm Credner

Wilhelm Georg Rudolf Credner (born December 23, 1892 in Greifswald , † October 13, 1948 in Munich ) was a German geographer . He dealt mainly with economic geography .

Life

Wilhelm Credner, son of Rudolf Credner , studied geography at the University of Greifswald , the University of Uppsala and the University of Heidelberg . In 1922 he received his doctorate with a geomorphological thesis and three years later he completed his habilitation at the University of Kiel . He then traveled through Burma , Siam and Indochina . From 1932 he was a full professor at the Technical University of Munich and from 1946 at the state economics faculty of the University of Munich . In 1936 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .

Act

Credner advanced economic geography by placing the structure and development of the economic landscape and its geographically different types in the foreground instead of a world trade theory.
