Wilhelm Dobbek

Wilhelm Dobbek (born May 29, 1888 in Flatow , West Prussia , † March 4, 1971 in Weimar ) was a German educator.

Life

Dobbek attended the grammar school in Graudenz . After high school he studied at the University of Marburg , the Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Berlin and the Royal University of Greifswald Philology . He took part in the First World War and received the Iron Cross 1st class. Under director Hans Timreck he was a teacher at Marienwerder grammar school in 1921/22 . After Timreck became director of the Royal Wilhelms-Gymnasium in 1922 , he brought Dobbek to Königsberg in 1923. Dobbek became senior student councilor and part-time head of the study seminar , which was responsible for the pedagogical training of all trainee lawyers in East Prussia . During the National Socialist era , he was transferred to Mohrungen as head of the secondary school . Fled from East Prussia in January 1945, he found refuge in Weimar . In Herder's hometown he devoted himself to the work of his soul mate . His publications include the five-volume work edition (with an additional volume of letters ) published by Volksverlag Weimar . It was later reissued by Aufbau-Verlag (Berlin and Weimar) and after Dobbeks death, it was published by Regine Otto . Dobbek was also the editor of a selection of August von Einsiedel's ideas , which have only come down to us through excerpts in Herder's estate. After 26 years in Weimar, Dobbek died at the age of 83.
