Wilhelm Gottlieb Tafinger

Friedrich Wilhelm Gottlieb Tafinger , from 1812 by Tafinger , (born December 29, 1760 in Tübingen ; † June 17, 1813 there ) was a German legal scholar and university professor .

Life

Tafinger was the son of Tübingen law professor Friedrich Wilhelm Tafinger and came from the Tafinger family . After his father died early, he received his further education under the guidance of the legal scholar Karl Christoph Hofacker . He studied at the universities of Tübingen , Erlangen and Göttingen jurisprudence, went in 1780 to a more extensive educational journey through the German territories and finally returned to the Tubingen University, where he became Doctor of Laws PhD and finally in 1782 lecturer was appointed. As early as 1781 he worked for a year at the Imperial Court of Justice in Wetzlar .

Tafinger was appointed associate professor of law in 1786 . In 1788 he was given a full professorship at the University of Erlangen, before he received the chair for natural law and canon law in Tübingen in 1790 , where he also covered the teaching of police law. Later he was also assigned the areas of German private law and diplomacy. In 1812 he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Württemberg Civil Merit Order and in 1813 appointed to the Higher Appellation Tribunal Council. In his time in Tübingen he had three times the Rector of the University held, he was in the years 1794, 1800 and 1807 Rector . He died after a long illness.

Tafinger was a member of the German Society of Göttingen and probably a member of the Illuminati Order . He tried to align law with the philosophy of Immanuel Kant .
