Wilhelm Hübsch (politician)

Wilhelm Hübsch (born March 3, 1848 in Wertheim , † January 12, 1928 in Karlsruhe ) was a German lawyer and politician . He was Baden's Minister of Culture (1915–1918).

Life

Born the son of a rent clerk , Hübsch studied law in Würzburg after attending the Wertheim grammar school . During his studies in 1866 he became a member of the Germania Würzburg fraternity . In the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71 he was a war volunteer . After his exams in 1871 and 1874, he became secretary in the newly established Baden Ministry of Commerce. In 1878 he became a member of the government at the Head Office for Water and Road Construction in Karlsruhe. From 1883 he worked as a public prosecutor at the Karlsruhe Regional Court . In 1893 he moved to the Ministry of Justice, Culture and Education as Ministerialrat . For many years he was chairman of the examination board for the legal exams. He became a secret government councilor, and in 1901 a ministerial director . In 1907 he became a member of the First Chamber of the Baden Estates Assembly and in 1911 the Baden State Council. From 1915 to culture minister in the shower cabinet and from 1917 to 1918 in the Bodman cabinet of the state government of Baden . In 1918 he was forced to submit his resignation. From 1919 to 1928 he worked in the central management of the State Association for the Protection of Young People and Prisoners.
