Wilhelm Holder

Wilhelm Holder (* 1542 in Marbach am Neckar , † July 24, 1609 in Stuttgart ) was a Lutheran theologian and abbot of Maulbronn Monastery .

Life

Holder went through the Württemberg monastery schools and then studied at the University of Tübingen from 1559 . There he was among other things a student of Jakob Andreae , whom he followed particularly, but also among others Jacob Heerbrand . He completed his studies with a master's degree and was repetent there . This was followed by positions as pastor from 1566 in Derendingen , as city pastor from 1567 in Lauffen am Neckar and as hospital pastor and special superintendent from 1570 in Stuttgart.

In 1571, Holder was appointed consistorial councilor and preacher, then in 1595 as general superintendent and abbot of Maulbronn. He was also an assessor of the Württemberg landscape . 1608 he joined because of dementia in retirement . He was married to a daughter of the abbot of the Bebenhausen monastery, Eberhard Bidembach the Elder .
