Wilhelm II of Lebus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wilhelm ( Latin Willelmus ; † 1282 or 1283 ) was Bishop of Lebus from 1276 to 1282.

Life

The more recent research assumes that he is not identical with his predecessor Wilhelm I , although there are no references to two people with this name in the documents.

In 1276, Bishop Wilhelm von Lebus signed an agreement with Archbishop Konrad von Magdeburg , in which he promised to move the seat of the Diocese of Lebus to a place in the Magdeburg part of Lebus that the archbishop would determine. Likewise, he accepted the patronage right (appointment proposal ) of the Archbishop for the post of Provost of Lebus, by accepting every candidate proposed by the Archbishop. For the year 1278 a similar document concerning the town of Seelow has been received, which should not be sold without the consent of the archbishop.

In 1280 he met with the Wroclaw Cathedral Chapter on his monastery in Borek (Großburg), in 1281 he was with the Duke of Wroclaw and in 1282 he was granted rights to the possessions of the Diocese of Lebus in Lesser Poland by the duke there.

Wilhelm was last mentioned in a document in August 1282. His successor Wolmir first appeared as a bishop at the end of 1283.
