Wilhelm Petersén

Wilhelm Knut "Mulle" Petersén (born October 2, 1906 in Stockholm , † December 11, 1988 in Nacka ) was a Swedish athlete. He competed for AIK in ice hockey , soccer and bandy . In all three sports he came with the club to Swedish championship honors and was each appointed to the Swedish national team.

career

In the 1920s and 1930s, at the time of Petersén's sports career, it was common in Sweden to compete in several sports at the same time. He played for AIK in ice hockey, soccer and bandy in the top division or played with the club in the final round of the championship.

Especially in ice hockey, Petersén was one of the pillars of the team and was the top scorer several times. In 1934 and 1935 he won the Swedish championship with the AIK ice hockey team. As a result, he was also appointed to the national ice hockey team. With the country selection he was second behind Canada at the World Cup in 1928 and, since the competition was also the 13th European ice hockey championship, it was also European champion. At the European Championships in 1932 , he won the title a second time with the team. He also took part in the Olympic Games in 1928 and 1936 , where he won the silver medal in 1928. He was later named a Stor Grabb .

Petersén, who had made his debut in the Allsvenskan on May 13, 1928 in the 0-1 home defeat against GAIS , was also regularly used in the AIK football team from the 1929/30 season . In the following three seasons he was part of the permanent staff and thus contributed to winning the Von Rosens Cup as the Swedish champion at the end of the 1931/32 season . By 1934 he played 86 times in the Allsvenskan and scored six goals. On September 28, 1930, he made his international debut in the 3-0 home defeat against Poland , his second and last international match he played two years later. On May 16, 1932, he celebrated a 7-1 victory over the Finnish national team .

With the bandy team of AIK he celebrated winning the Swedish championship in 1931. As in football, he was appointed to the national team twice.

Petersén had his own coffee roastery in Stockholm.
