Josef Zilch

Josef Zilch (born May 29, 1928 in Schwandorf ) is a German conductor and composer .

Life

Zilch began taking piano lessons at the age of five and became the first organist at Marienmünster in Schwandorf at the age of twelve. He completed his studies at the University of Music in Munich. 1956-1959 he taught at the Max-Reger-Gymnasium Amberg . In 1971 he became a professor at the Munich University of Music, from 1973 he headed the chair for music education and conducting there. He is an honorary member of the university.

From 1976 Zilch was a permanent guest conductor in Japan. He received the title of Professor Honoris Cause from the Musashino Art School in Tokyo .

Since 1949 he has been a member of the Catholic student union Rheno-Franconia Munich in the CV .
