Wilhelm Riedl

Wilhelm Riedl (born June 8, 1895 in Oberpetersdorf , Oberpullendorf , Burgenland ; † July 31, 1962 in Eisenstadt , Burgenland) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ).

Life

After attending elementary school and lower secondary school, he completed a teachers' seminar and two semesters at the pedagogy in Budapest . In 1914 he first became a teacher at the boys' elementary school in Deutschkreutz and, after working there as a senior teacher, finally headed this school in 1927. Because of his political views, he was arrested on March 12, 1938 after the Anschluss of Austria and was imprisoned for several weeks.

After the end of the Second World War , he became a member of the Federal Council on December 19, 1945 . Between July 1 and December 31, 1946 he was President of the Austrian Federal Council . After the end of the fifth legislative period , Wilhelm Riedl resigned from the Federal Council on November 4, 1949.
