Karl Wilhelm Schäfer (born September 24, 1896 in Frankfurt am Main ; † July 17, 1933 ibid) was a German politician ( NSDAP ) and a member of the state parliament of the People's State of Hesse in the Weimar Republic .

Family and work

Wilhelm Schäfer was the son of Karl Schäfer and his wife Maria Elisabeth, nee Langbein. He was married to Dora, nee Sander. Wilhelm Schäfer completed his studies as a commercial teacher and worked as a company lawyer in Offenbach am Main .

politics

Wilhelm Schäfer was the district leader of the NSDAP in the Offenbach district . From 1931 to 1932 he was a member of the state parliament. On July 17, 1933, he was found murdered in the Frankfurt city forest .

Schäfer had left the NSDAP after an internal party dispute with Werner Best and passed on the Boxheimer documents written by Best to the police on November 25, 1931 . The Hessian police , which was subordinate to the Social Democratic Interior Minister Wilhelm Leuschner , initiated an investigation against Best and informed the press. Schäfer himself took part in the deliberations at the Boxheimer Hof near Lampertheim .

The background to the internal party dispute was the allegation that he allegedly made false statements in his résumé. He was urged by Best to resign from his Landtag mandate; his home was searched by members of the SA .

Shortly after the National Socialists came to power , Schäfer was murdered by four revolver shots on the night of July 17, 1933 in the Frankfurt city forest. It was obvious that Best was the client, but he was acquitted in July 1950 for lack of evidence.
