The Wilhelm Tham is a motor ship that travels the Swedish Göta Canal on the route from Gothenburg to Stockholm and back. After the Juno, the ship is the second oldest ship in the Götakanal fleet, which also includes the Diana , built in 1931 .

history

The ship, built in 1912 by AB Motala Verkstad in Motala , is named after Wilhelm Tham , who died in 1911 , who was a member of the Swedish Diet and director of Husqvarna Vapenfabriks AB in Huskvarna since 1877 .

The ship was built with the dimensions 29.48 m × 6.73 m × 2.90 m and delivered with a steam engine with 184 kW. In 1966 this steam engine was replaced by two Scania diesel engines with 338 kW. In 2003/2004 the ship was completely renovated. Care was taken to ensure that the historical impression was retained. In 2007 the ship received today's machinery. The transport capacity was reduced to a maximum of 150 people. In regular traffic, only the 30 existing double cabins are occupied by a maximum of 60 people.

The ship is classified as a historically valuable ship .
