Wilhelm Thomas (diplomat)
Wilhelm Thomas (born July 11, 1880 in Konstanz , † June 18, 1948 in Baden-Baden ) was a German diplomat .
Life
Thomas studied 1900-1903 jurisprudence and became a doctor of law . From 1907 to 1908 he was employed in his father's company. In 1908 he was a government assessor in the Hessian civil service. In 1912 he entered the foreign service and was employed at the Consulate General in Genoa until May 1915 . After the First World War, he was assigned to Consul General Franz von Herff (* 1857; † May 30, 1920 in Rome ) from November 1919 , where he was promoted to 2nd class Legation Council in August 1920. In 1921 he became consul in Genoa, in 1927 consul in Tunis , and in 1928 he was promoted to consul general. In 1936 he joined the NSDAP . On November 6, 1936, he was appointed envoy to the Kingdom of Siam , where he remained until 1941. Thomas had a daughter and two sons.
