Will Sellenraad

Will Sellenraad (born February 28 around 1972) is an American jazz musician ( guitar ) of modern jazz .

Sellenraad is the son of a New York artist couple; his father is Johan Sellenraad. He was familiar with the downtown art and music scene from an early age. With scholarships he studied in the jazz program of the New School University until 1995 . He has received various awards from the New York State Council on the Arts; He has also appeared in the New York music scene, where he has appeared in clubs such as 55 Bar , Smalls , Mezzrow, The Blue Note , Birdland , Iridium and Sweet Basil .

Sellenraad recorded his first self-published album in 2000, Streams , which was created in trio formations with John Hurt (piano), Kiyoshi Kitagawa (bass) and Eric McPherson . In 2002 he recorded the album Star Hustler with his band Root Down ; Brian Charette and Darren Beckett played in his band . In 2007 Sellenraad recorded his third album, Balance , for Beezwax Records in New York , with Abraham Burton , Kiyoshi Kitagawa and Victor Lewis . In 2019 he released the trio album Greene Street Vol. 1 (Deko) with Eric McPherson and Rene Hart , according to Down Beat "the trio builds melodies, solos and textures and uses their chemistry to produce a captivating album."
