Brian Charette

Brian Charette (* 1972 in Meriden , Connecticut ) is an American jazz musician ( organ (Hammond B3), composition , also piano ) of modern jazz .

Live and act

Charette was introduced to music by his mother; at 17 he played with jazz veterans Lou Donaldson and Houston Person . After graduating from the University of Connecticut , where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in classical piano playing in 1994, he toured Europe and then lived in Prague. In 1996 the first recordings were made with guitarist Greg Green / ( Back to the Groove , with Bobby Watson and Cindy Blackman ). Since then he has worked a. a. as a session musician with Joni Mitchell , Chaka Khan , Paul Simon and Cyndi Lauper , in the field of jazz with Will Sellenraad , Jerry Vivino, Mike Merritt & Mharlyn Merritt, Sarah DeLeo. Jordan Young, Mike DiRubbo , Ian Hendrickson-Smith , Vic Juris , Joe Magnarelli , Doug Webb , Walt Weiskopf and Tom Tallitsch .

Charette was also active as an author and music teacher; he wrote for Keyboard Magazine , Down Beat and the Czech magazine Muzikus ; he taught master classes at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague. Under his own name, he published a number of albums under his own name from 2000, u. a. on SteepleChase Records . Charette lives and works in New York City. Charette won the 2004 Down Beat Critics' Poll in the Rising Star: Organ category . In the field of jazz he was involved in 40 recording sessions between 1996 and 2017. Currently (2019) he works with his own trio (with Yotam Silberstein and Ari Hoenig ), a quartet (with Mike DiRubbo , Joe Martin and Jochen Rückert ) as well as in the bands of George Coleman junior and Will Bernard .
