Tom Tallitsch

Tom Tallitsch (* 1974 in Elmhurst , Illinois ) is an American musician ( tenor saxophone , clarinet , piano , composition ).

Live and act

Tallitsch grew up in Westlake, Ohio and earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music (CCM); he also took courses from Joe Henderson and Chris Potter . He has also had lessons from Rick VanMatre , Ernie Krivda , Mike Lee, Ben Schachter , Seamus Blake and the pianist Phil DeGreg . In 2004 he self-published the album Duality , followed by Medicine Man on Origin Records . In 2017 he recorded the album Wheelhouse (Posi-Tone) with Josh Lawrence (trumpet), Jon Davis (piano), Peter Brendler (bass) and Vinnie Sperrazza . After his beginnings, following the hard bop tradition, he recorded several albums in which he interpreted the music of David Bowie , Neil Young and Led Zeppelin . In 2020 he released the cross-genre album Ten with musicians from Philadelphia (Mike Kennedy, Jason Fraticelli, Dan Monaghan) . He has also written compositions for dance theater such as the Martha Graham Dance Company and has taught at various colleges and high schools.
