The Willi Graf Schools in Saarbrücken are a school network consisting of a grammar school and a secondary school (each private school under the sponsorship of the Trier diocese ). The schools are named after Willi Graf , a member of the White Rose resistance group . The school logo includes the symbol of the resistance group, the white rose . The grammar school opened in 1968, the secondary school in 1978.

building

The schools are located in the main building (with classrooms for middle and upper grades and function rooms) and another building (with classrooms for lower grades). A sports hall is adjacent to the main building. The area includes two schoolyards with sports facilities that are also used during breaks.

Course offer

The foreign language French is compulsory from the fifth grade, English from the sixth grade (or in the Realschule from the eighth grade) in both schools. In the eighth grade, students can choose either Spanish or Latin as a third foreign language or natural sciences as a profile option. In the Realschule there is - depending on the choice of English for the sixth or eighth grade - compulsory elective for vocational and practice-oriented subjects.

Particular emphasis is placed on the option to switch between grammar school and secondary school (and vice versa) due to the close cooperation between the two schools. The Realschule also offers a special 10th grade (with remedial lessons) to prepare for the course phase of the upper school level. The schools cooperate in joint string and wind classes .

Both schools have been offering afternoon care until 5:00 p.m. since 2006.
