Willi Drehann (born February 1, 1938 ) is a former German soccer player who played 44 games with eight goals in the upper leagues West and South between 1956 and 1962 .

career

At the age of 18, the young striker Willi Drehmann came to Duisburg SpV on November 11, 1956 in a 3-2 home win against Alemannia Aachen for the first time in the Oberliga West. He played in the storm of the West German old master alongside Ernst Wechselberger , Walter Münnix , Rolf Benning and Hans Lohmann on left wing. The DSV won the runner-up in the west in this round. In the 1957/58 season, the winger came on twelve missions with two goals. With the association selection of the Lower Rhine, he won the state cup in 1958 with 2-0 goals against the defending champion Lower Saxony. Together with Friedrich Giegeling , he supplied center forward Klaus Matischak with flanks from the left wing . The highlights, however, were the two appointments to the German national soccer team of amateurs in May of the World Cup year. The talent from Duisburg stormed on May 4th and 7th 1958 at the international matches against France and Curacao on the left wing of the DFB team. In the 1958/59 season he belonged with 20 missions and five hits to the regular cast of the game club, which occupied ninth place in the Oberliga West. Hans Krämer occupied the DSV's right flank, Drehann the left, and Herbert Kurwan cranked the game from midfield.

In the summer of 1959 he moved to Rot-Weiss Essen and on the first match day of the 1959/60 round took the position of Helmut Rahn , who had switched to 1. FC Cologne, in the 2-1 defeat on August 23, 1959 at Preußen Münster. But there were only three more missions at RWE and Drehann tried it from the 1960/61 season in the football south. But even in the team from SSV Reutlingen 05 , alongside Ulrich Biesinger , Karl Bögelein and Hans-Georg Dulz , he could not bring about the turnaround in his senior league career, he only made three appearances in Reutlingen and switched to the 1961/62 round in the Fugger city of Augsburg to the BCA there . In Rosenaustadion he had a good start. On the first match day, August 6, 1961, Augsburg defeated the guests from FC Bayern Munich with 3-1 goals. Drehann stormed on the right wing and scored the 1-0 lead in the 55th minute of the game, before Helmut Haller could finally secure the home win with two goals. But even in Augsburg he could not fight for a regular place and ended his career in the league in the summer of 1962 with only four games and one goal.
