Wilhelm Rothe

Wilhelm Rothe (born March 22, 1914 in Gera ; † January 22, 2003 in Rosenheim ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Rothe attended elementary and middle school in Halle (Saale) and left it in 1929 with secondary school leaving certificate. He did an apprenticeship as a machine fitter , completed an internship and studied mechanical engineering and materials science in Halle and Munich , followed by a completed REFA training. In 1936 he went into active military service, in World War II he was an aircraft pilot and later a captain in the Air Force, but was also an American prisoner of war . He interrupted his military service by taking a study leave during which he graduated from engineering school.

Rothe rejoined the union in 1929 and after an interruption in 1946. In 1950 he was employed full-time at the regional board of the DGB in Bavaria as head of the salaried department, from 1958 to 1969 he was head of this at the federal board in Düsseldorf . From 1954 to 1958 he was also a judge at the Federal Social Court . In 1957 he was elected to the board of the BfA , from 1969 to 1978 he was chairman of the DGB in Bavaria. He was also a member of the Commission for Administrative Simplification and the Reduction of State Tasks, the Broadcasting Council of the BR and the Regional Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria and was Chairman of the Advisory Board of FC Bayern Munich from 1971 to 1991 and then its Honorary Chairman.

Rothe became a member of the SPD in 1946, in 1969 he became President of the Bavarian State Association and was a member of the state executive. From 1970 to 1981 he represented the trade unions in the Bavarian Senate .
