Willi Scheidhauer

Willi Scheidhauer (born September 27, 1924 in Niederlinxweiler ; † July 25, 2012 in Saarbrücken ) was a German motorcycle racer and entrepreneur .

Career

Willi Scheidhauer came from Niederlinxweiler, which was independent until 1974 and today belongs to St. Wendel . He competed a total of eleven times in the motorcycle races in his home in the Saarland .

In 1954 Scheidhauer took sixth place on a 125 cc MV Agusta in the field hill climb around the Großer Feldberg im Taunus , which was part of the German road championship , against strong international competition. He achieved notable successes u. a. 1956 and 1958 with victories in Zandvoort in the Netherlands in 1956 and 1958 - ahead of the nine-time world champion Mike Hailwood .

Scheidhauer achieved two notable placements in the motorcycle world championship . In 125cc MV Agusta he reached in 1954 when the Grand Prix of Nations in Monza sixth place in 1955 at the Dutch TT in Assen fifth.

Willi Scheidhauer was the German road champion three times in his career in the 125 cc class. In 1959, 1960 and 1961 he won the title on Ducati .

After the end of the 1961 season, Scheidhauer sold his Ducati and ended his racing career. He devoted himself to his Volvo - Autohaus , which in 1988 his son Reiner took over. Reiner Scheidhauer was also a successful motorcycle racer and two-time German motorcycle champion.

Willi Scheidhauer died on July 25, 2012 at the age of 87.
