In 1930 he joined the Red Aid and in 1932 the KPD . In the spring of 1933 he was arrested and imprisoned in the Oranienburg concentration camp . After his release from “ protective custody ” he was employed as a liaison for the Kampfgemeinschaft für Rote Sporteinheit (KG) for the Berlin district management. From 1934 he headed the KG Niederrhein in Düsseldorf , where he published the newspapers Westdeutscher Arbeiterport and Sportfreund . In May 1935 he first fled to Amsterdam and in the same year traveled on to Moscow, where he attended the International Lenin School until 1937 .
Seng then traveled to the Ruhr area , Dortmund , Essen and Oberhausen as an instructor for the KPD foreign leadership . In January 1939, Seng took part in the KPD's Bern conference in Draveil near Paris . After the invasion of German troops, he lived under a false name in the Netherlands . At the end of 1940, Wilhelm Knöchel Seng chose to return to the Ruhr area and set up an illegal organization. Thanks to his good connections to companies in Essen, Duisburg , Bottrop , Wuppertal and in the Bergisches Land , Seng was able to incorporate a great deal of knowledge into his illegally published publications Ruhrecho and Illegaler SA-Mann . On January 20, 1943, he was arrested by the Gestapo , sentenced to death by the People's Court on May 24, 1944 , and executed in Cologne .
