Willi Winkler (soccer player)
Willi Winkler (born August 24, 1903 in Worms ; † May 12, 1967 ) was a German football player .
Career
societies
Winkler belonged to Wormatia Worms from 1924 to 1940 , for which he was active in the South German Football Association until 1927 in the Rheinhessen / Saar district league , from 1927 to 1933 in the Main / Hessen district league , in the regional highest division.
From 1933 to 1940 he played in the Gauliga Südwest , in one of 16 Gauligen in the time of National Socialism as the top division in the German Reich . During this period he and his team won the Gaume Championship three times. Due to the success he played five of six group games in the final round of the German Championship in 1935/36 and scored the goal to 5-2 with a penalty kick on May 3, 1936, in a 6-2 win at home against the Stuttgarter Kickers ; but as second behind 1. FC Nürnberg , he and his team were eliminated from the competition. In 1936/37 he played all six group games, but as second behind VfB Stuttgart , he and his team were also eliminated from the competition.
National team
His only international match for the senior national team he played on September 23, 1929 against the national team of Norway , which was won 2-0 in Oslo .
