William Clingan

William Clingan (born around 1721 near Wagontown, Chester County , Province of Pennsylvania , † May 9, 1790 ) was an American judge and politician .

Clingan was Chester County's Justice of the Peace from 1757 to 1786. He was also a delegate to the Continental Congress for Pennsylvania from 1777 to 1779 . During this time he signed the Articles of Confederation in 1778 . He was then President of the Chester County Court from 1780 to 1786. He died in 1790 and was then buried in the Upper Octorara Burial Grounds in Chester County.
