William Hedgcock

William Hedgcock (born July 4, 1883 in New York City , New York , † September 29, 1947 in Hollywood , California ) was an American sound engineer who was once nominated for the Oscar for best special effects .

Life

Hedgcock began his career as a sound engineer in the Hollywood film industry in 1929 with the William Wyler directed Western Gallows (Hell's Heroes) with Charles Bickford , Raymond Hatton and Fred Kohler . He worked on the production of nearly 100 films until his death.

At the Oscar ceremony in 1941 , he was with John P. Fulton and Bernard B. Brown for the Oscar for Best Special Effects nomination, namely for the horror and science fiction film The Invisible Man Returns (The Invisible Man Returns, 1940) by Joe May with Cedric Hardwicke , Vincent Price and Nan Gray in the lead roles.
