William Hutchinson (production designer)
William Hutchinson is a production designer and art director .
Life
Hutchinson began his career on the film staff in 1937 as an uncredited set designer for the period film Fire Over England . He also remained without credit in the following engagements, including Elefanten-Boy , Caesar and Cleopatra and Mysterious Inheritance . From 1947 he also worked as an art director, including feature film productions such as The Dirty Dozen , Battle of Britain and The Countess and Her Colonel .
Hutchinson has worked with directors such as Richard Attenborough , Laurence Olivier , Robert Aldrich and Guy Hamilton throughout his career . He worked on five feature films for David Lean , including Doctor Zhivago . 1973 he worked for Richard Attenborough's film adaptation The young lion together with Don Ashton , John Gray Mark , Geoffrey Drake and Peter James for the Oscar in the category Best Art Direction nominated, but the award went this year to theater .
His son Tim Hutchinson is also an Oscar-nominated production designer.
