Tim Hutchinson (production designer)

Tim Hutchinson (born October 9, 1946 in England ) is a British production designer and art director .

Life

Hutchinson began his career on the film staff in 1965 as a technical draftsman while filming David Lean's Doctor Zhivago . He quickly rose to become a production designer, although he mostly remained in the credits for several years without naming his name. In 1976 he worked for the first time as art director, in this position he worked on, among others, John Boorman's Excalibur and Blake Edwards ' The Pink Panther is Hunted and The Curse of the Pink Panther .

1983 he was responsible for Edwards' comedy of Victor / Victoria , along with Rodger Mouse , William Craig Smith and Harry Cordwell for the Oscar in the category Best Production Design nominated, but the award went this year to Gandhi .

Hutchinson initially worked almost exclusively for film, from the mid-1990s onwards he increasingly worked for television. For his work on the BBC - Miniseries The Hanging Gale , he was in 1996 for the British Academy Television Award nomination.

His father, William Hutchinson, was also an Oscar-nominated production designer.
