William Loose

William Loose (born June 5, 1910 in Michigan , † June 22, 1991 in Burbank , California ) was an American composer for film , television and production music . His active period was from the 1950s to the 1970s. Using his film score for the animated series Ren & Stimpy also earned him fans in the 1990s.

Life

His career began as arranger for a radio station in Omaha , Nebraska . During World War II he was director of the United States Armed Forces orchestra in New York.

In the 1950s, Capitol Records managed a number of production music archives . In 1955 they decided to open their own archive, but Nelson Riddle refused to take care of the cues and arrangements as the composer . So Loose and his colleague John Seely were hired. As early as 1957, Looses music was used in more than 24 different television programs, including some western series. He composed the production music for, among others, The Ruff & Reddy Show , The Texaner , Hucky , Yogibär , Mutter ist der der Bestebesten , Merciless City and Dennis, a rascal story . He was often not mentioned in the opening or closing credits of the film or series. From 1968 to 1969 he was musical director of The Doris Day Show .

His most productive period was in the 1950s and 1960s, in the 1970s, he participated in the soundtrack of some cult - B-movies like Rebel Riders (1970), The Big Bird Cage (1972), The Wrestler (1974), football match and sweet Girls (1974), Little Devils (1974) and Mako the Beast (1976). He also became known for the musical design of various Russ Meyer films , including Ohne Gnade - Schätze (1968), Drüber, und und drauf (1976) and In the deep valley of the super witches (1983), some of which were also released on LP.

His last scores appeared in the 1980s, including for Nostradamus (1981) and Spuk im Herrenhaus (1983).

In 1986 he won a Golden Eagle (CINE) for The Living Machine episode of the documentary series The Infinite Voyage .

In 1991 Loose died of a heart attack . Shortly thereafter, his music became known to a whole new generation through the animated series Ren & Stimpy .
