William Ryan (born December 23, 1988 in Lake Macquarie City ) is an Australian sailor .
successes
William Ryan took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro with Mathew Belcher in the 470 dinghy . After finishing the regatta they finished second behind the Croatians Šime Fantela and Igor Marenić . The Greeks Panagiotis Mantis and Pavlos Kagialis as well as Ryan and Belcher had achieved 58 points overall, but in the medal race they finished ninth ahead of Mantis and Kagialis and thus secured the silver medal. At world championships he won a total of six medals with Mathew Belcher, including five gold medals. In the years 2013 to 2015 as well as 2017 and 2019 they became world champions, in 2016 they won bronze.
