Šime Fantela (born January 19, 1986 in Zadar ) is a Croatian sailor .

successes

Šime Fantela took part in three Olympic Games with Igor Marenić in the 470 dinghy . In 2008 , they finished ninth in Beijing , and four years later they finished sixth . At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , they finished the regatta in first place with 43 points in front of the Australian and Greek boats and thus became Olympic champions .

At world championships he won seven medals with Igor Marenić with the 470 dinghy. In addition to three bronze and two silver medals, they became world champions in Copenhagen in 2009 and San Isidro in 2016 . In 2018 he also won the title with Mihovil Fantela in the 49er dinghy in Aarhus . Fantela and Marenić were also multiple European champions in the 470 dinghy.
