Willy Doenges

Willy Doenges (born December 20, 1866 in Schaan , † 1932 in Dresden ) was a German art historian , journalist and publisher .

Life

Willy Doenges graduated in Leipzig , the school and also studied in Leipzig Germanic philology , philosophy and art history . From 1894 to 1896 he was editor of the youth publication “For the small world. Journal for the entertainment, education and health care of youth ”. On January 1, 1896, he became editor-in-chief of the Oelsnitzer Tageblatt . In 1907 Willy Doenges published a standard work on the history of Meissen porcelain .

From 1901 to September 6, 1922 he was the chief editor of the "Sächsische Staatszeitung", which was published until 1914 under the title "Dresdner Journal". He also worked for a short time in the news office of the Saxon State Chancellery . Doenges held the title of court and government councilor . Until December 1922 he was still responsible for the Landtag supplement to the “Saxon State Newspaper”. In 1923 he retired, but remained active as an art critic. Doenges accompanied the Dresden art scene at that time with numerous articles and reviews in specialist journals and the daily newspapers of Dresden. Some of his contributions were signed with the abbreviation “ys”, the last letters of his first and last name.
