Willy Hugo Demmler

Wilhelm "Willy" Hugo Demmler (born March 14, 1887 in Hamburg , † November 17, 1954 in Düsseldorf ) was a German portrait , genre , landscape and still life painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Demmler, offspring of an old Mecklenburg family, studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . He was based in Güstrow until 1907 , after which he settled in Düsseldorf, where he married the landscape painter Paula Barthold in 1914 . From 1914 to 1948 he was a member of the Association of Düsseldorf Artists . In 1928 he took part in the exhibition “German Art” in the Kunstpalast Düsseldorf , and in 1935 there in the “Christmas sales exhibition of Düsseldorf artists”. From 1939 to 1941 his pictures were shown at the “Autumn Exhibition of Düsseldorf Artists” in the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf , and in 1942 in the exhibition “Spring Exhibition of Düsseldorf Artists”.
