biography

Willy Seiler came to the theater when he was not quite 16. At that time, in 1946, sought a new theater in Stuttgart young actor for Emil and the Detectives by Erich Kastner . He soon took part in the Süddeutscher Rundfunk in children's and school radio programs and held conferences at colorful evenings. Seiler became what was then called a "humorist". He also sang songs, primarily Swabian folklore . At first he appeared alone, later with his wife Ruth Mönch , who had embodied the Black Forest girl more than a hundred times on stage and also worked as a spokeswoman for the Stuttgart broadcaster.

In 1965 Willy Seiler received an offer to produce a record with the title Schaffe, save, Häusle baue . On the B-side, Mathilde, give me the hammer , should be published. Seiler agreed, and since a female voice was also needed, the Seiler couple sang together - as Willy Seiler and Mathilde. The record was a success and sold over 100,000 times.

In 1968, Seiler played his first role in a television game in the last two episodes of the television series Chronik der Nägele von Fritz Eckhardt . as the son of the then very prominent folk actor Willy Reichert . The role, said Seiler, gives him a lot of pleasure because it is of course much more artistically demanding than the conferences that he had previously given, especially for the Second German Television .

As a result, the Seilers produced more than 40 skits in Swabian dialect at ZDF . The folk music show Im Krug zum Grünen Kranze of the Saarland broadcasting company, where the Stockmihli musicians also performed , ran with great success for several years on ARD . Almost a dozen long-playing records by the two singers have been released with Swabian and High German folk music.

In the existing documents of the SWR it is recorded that Seiler died of the consequences of a "serious operation in a Stuttgart hospital".
