Willy Stiewe
Willy Stiewe (born June 27, 1900 , † September 10, 1971 ) was a German journalist and local politician.
Career
After graduating from high school in Berlin, Stiewe began studying law. After its demolition, he studied journalism and sociology and a doctorate in 1936 at the University of Leipzig Dr. phil.
As early as 1921 he was working as an editor for the Große Berliner Illustrierte . After various posts as an editor, he was editor-in-chief of the Neue Illustrierte Zeitung from 1931 to 1944 .
With his dissertation, published under the title The Press Photo as a Journalistic Means , which formulated the status of journalistic research on press photography at the time , and the books The Image as Message and Photo and People , he is considered the most important theoretician of Nazi image propaganda.
After the end of the Second World War, he joined the CDU and was district mayor in the Berlin district of Zehlendorf from 1955 to 1965 .
Stiewe was buried in the forest cemetery in Berlin-Dahlem .
