Wim Both

Wim Both (born October 16, 1964 ) is a Dutch jazz musician ( trumpet , flugelhorn ).

Live and act

Both studied classical trumpet with Ad van Zorn and Theo Mertens at the Conservatory in Rotterdam .

Both played in the Latin bands Batida and Nueva Manteca since the 1980s . Then he belongs to the Metropole Orkest , with whom he accompanied soloists such as the Brecker Brothers , Gino Vannelli , Clark Terry , Ivan Lins , Chaka Khan , Barry Hay , the New York Voices and Oleta Adams . As a studio musician, Both took part in numerous productions with Golden Earring , the Rosenberg Trio , Pe Werner , Helmut Lotti and Hermine Deurloo . He also played in Bob Brookmeyer's orchestra . He has also appeared in the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw with guests such as The Four Freshmen , Chick Corea , Eddie Palmieri , Elvin Jones , Branford Marsalis and Toots Thielemans . As a trumpeter, he has been a member of the WDR Big Band Cologne since 2008 , with which he was involved in numerous productions. He also teaches trumpet in the jazz department of the Codarts College of Art in Rotterdam .
