content

Pierre Brice (2005)

The film is a biographical portrait of the French actor Pierre Brice, who was best known as the actor of Winnetou in the German film adaptations of the works of Karl May in the 1960s. In the film, Pierre Brice reports in interviews about the Winnetou wave and his success, but at the same time also the problems of identifying with this character, which this role meant for him and which denied him roles in other films. The scenes with Pierre Brice were shot both in his hometown Paris and at the original locations of the Winneto films in Croatia .

In addition to Pierre Brice, other colleagues and friends from the Winnetou era are also interviewed in the film, including Mario Adorf ( Santer ), Marie Versini (Winnetou's sister Nscho-tschi ) and Christopher Barker , the son of Old Shatterhand actor Lex Barker, and Rick Battaglia , who kills Winnetou in Winnetou Part 3 in the role of Rollins. Other colleagues not represented in the films who are interviewed are Christiane Krüger and Marie-José Nat , plus the Italian director Damiano Damiani and Karl May expert Michael Petzel. The film is supplemented by film clips as well as unpublished images and film parts from other films with Pierre Brice.
