history
At the turn of the 20th century, the Deidesheim small-scale winemakers were in a crisis. Many were heavily indebted due to bad harvests and dependencies in the context of marketing their musts. "This emergency can only be eliminated by founding winegrowers' associations," said Johannes Mungenast at meetings of the Raiffeisen Association . On September 16, 1898, Mungenast invited to the founding meeting at the “Bayerischer Hof” inn (today Ratskeller). 45 winegrowers appeared, who constituted the Deidesheim winegrowers 'association as the first so-called autumn cooperative of the Palatinate and thus founded the oldest winegrowers' cooperative in the Palatinate.
In April 1899, a building site was purchased near the train station and construction of the cellar and press house on Prinz-Rupprecht-Strasse began. Johannes Mungenast was in charge of the association from 1901 to 1905. On June 4, 1902, the Bavarian Prince Ludwig, later King Ludwig III ., Visited Deidesheim and also visited the winegrowers' association. The active members cultivate around 160 hectares of vineyards on the edge of the Haardt . These include the Paradiesgarten , Herrgottsacker , Kieselberg , Grainhübel , Leinhöhle and Mäushöhle locations in Deidesheim; Monsters in Forst , as well as a horse trail in Ruppertsberg .
