The cyclone of July 14, 1894 caused considerable damage to the northern edge of the Ebersberger Forest about 30 km east of Munich . The steeple of the church in Forstern was badly damaged; the rubble damaged the entire church. There were 2 dead and others injured. Years before, the nun caterpillars had already caused damage in the region.

The Coburger Zeitung reported: “Munich, July 16th. Several villages of Upper Bavaria were on Saturday of a cyclo-like tornado ravaged; 200 properties were destroyed. 100 pioneers are sent to help. "

The Münchner Neuesten Nachrichten of July 17, 1894 reported: “A heavy hailstorm hit our city today between 2.30 p.m. and 3 p.m. with lightning and thunder. The sky was so dark that it was difficult to read in the room. The locks fell with terrible force and were the size of hazelnuts , and sometimes pigeon eggs . The paths in the grounds were covered with leaves and branches. Around 6 a.m. (= 6 p.m.), when the air cooled down, a strong storm wind became noticeable, which appeared intermittently and developed significant violence, then it began to rain with lightning and thunder. Trudering was badly hit by the hail. Locks the size of a chicken fell from the sky, and all the windows on the west side of the newly built schoolhouse were smashed. Many birds, partridges and hares were slain in the open air . The roofs in Feldkirchen and Salmdorf were also damaged by the hail. "
