Die Witwen , also known as Widows , is a German comedy by Ludwig Thoma from 1899. Today it is mostly performed in an arrangement by Georg Lohmeier .

action

Hans Stein is a lawyer and has his own law firm. But his enthusiasm for work seems to be waning. His housekeeper Viktoria says that he is still unmarried. She hopes for help from her nephew, the cattle dealer and marriage broker Johann Weber. He then sends a widow to the office. Office assistant Singer takes the lady and reception and in order not to lose an order he gives himself as Dr. Stone out. This leads to some tangles. When a widowed client came to the office shortly afterwards with an inheritance matter, Stein thought she was the marriage candidate.
