Wladimir Abramowitsch Etusch ( Russian Владимир Абрамович Этуш ; born May 6, 1922 in Moscow ; † March 9, 2019 there ) was a Russian theater and film actor.

Life

Vladimir Etusch was born on May 6, 1922 (1923 according to official information) to a Jewish family. During the German-Soviet War Etusch fought as a Red Army soldier on the front in the Caucasus and later in the Ukraine, where he was badly wounded. After returning home, he enrolled at the Shchukin Theater School, which he graduated in 1945. Then Etusch was accepted into the troupe of the Vakhtangow Theater , where he has played to the present day. At the same time, he taught at his alma mater, from 1987 to 2003 he was its rector and then took over the newly created post of artistic director of the Shchukin Theater School.

Etusch played his first film role in 1953 in Michail Romm's strip Segel im Sturm , two years later he played the role of Martini in the second Soviet film adaptation of Ethel Lilian Voynich's novel Die Stechfliege . In 1967, Leonid Gaidai cast one of the main roles - that of comrade Saachow - with Etush in his film Abduction in the Caucasus - the sequel to his successful comedy Operation "Y" and Shurik's other adventures . Etusch later starred in Gaidai's film adaptation of the classic Twelve Chairs by Ilya Ilf and Yevgeny Petrow and in his film Iwan Wassiljewitsch changes his job to Michail Bulgakow . All three films enjoy great popularity in Russia to this day and are regularly shown on television. Etusch also starred in several fairy tale films by Nadezhda Koschewerowa . In his final years, Etusch was occasionally seen in films.

Etusch was married four times and had a daughter who was also an actress and now lives in the United States.

Vladimir Etusch was honored as Honored Artist of the RSFSR, People's Artist of the RSFSR and finally in 1984 People's Artist of the USSR . He also received the Order of the Red Star , the Order of the Patriotic War 1st Class, the Order of Merit for the Fatherland of all four classes, the Alexander Nevsky Order , the State Prize of the Russian Federation and numerous medals.
