With his entry into the show business in 1998, Solovyov became known to the Russian audience and that of the CIS countries . From 1998 to 2010 he hosted several programs on the Russian state radio station Westi FM .

Solovyov achieved widespread fame from 2002 when he began to moderate the television program "Zweikampf". The program is about controversial discussions between two public figures (mostly politicians). The program is still very well known among the Russian population. As a result of a heated debate on this program, it even happened that Solovyov insulted a politician. It was about Viktor Tarchow , the then mayor of Samara . Solovyov had 70,000 rubles Tarchow damages paid, which corresponds to about 1700 EUR.

Since 2012, Wladimir Solowjow has hosted the weekly, political late-night talk show Der Sonntagabend with Wladimir Solowjow (Russian Воскресный вечер с Владимиром Соловьёвым ) on Rossija 1 .

As recently as 2013, he was of the opinion "God forbids that Crimea return to Russia" - because of the radical change in this opinion after the Euromaidan , Novaya Gazeta called him a wiggle and continued: "Journalism is different from propaganda, like a violin from one Hoe. Once you have moved from one category to another, the feeling of shame is lost. " When people no longer wanted to watch the same predictable reports on Ukraine on television, according to Jelle Brandt Corstius , Solovyov's talk show was designed in such a way that a dubious Ukrainian was panned by three clever Russians.

Despite occasional critical questions, Solovyov and his provocations are regarded as a manipulator and always as a "whip" of the Kremlin and thus part of Russian propaganda . The writer Dmitri Bykow accused Solovyov of becoming the murderer of the Russian nation with his hate propaganda and the associated "unleashing of the ugliest instincts".

Private

Vladimir Solovyov was married three times. From the three marriages there were seven children.

His current wife is Helga Sepp, with whom he has four children (Daniil, Sofia-Betina, Emma-Ester and Wladimir). Sepp has Russian-German and Estonian roots on his mother's side and has taken her mother's family name; the father Viktor Koklyushkin was a Russian satirist.

Solowjow always describes the bank debtors in his TV appearances and radio programs as "thieves".

According to studies by the opposition politician Alexei Navalny , Solovyov owns three apartments in Moscow alone with a total area of 450 square meters, a dacha near the capital and a villa on Lake Como in Lombardy . Navalny estimates Solovyov's minimum fortune at one billion rubles (more than 17 million dollars). The moderator then dubbed the opposition activist a "crook" and a "fraudster", at the same time making no secret of his wealth: "Yes, the properties are registered in my name. But I pay taxes for that. I have never concealed the fact that I am rich am. "
