The newsreel Verlag was founded in 1949 by Kurt Debus and is a specialist publisher of political education . In recent years, the program has expanded to include new publications from the related social sciences , history didactics , social work , all-day schooling and youth and adult education . The publisher is a member of the German Book Trade Association .

Ursula Book Prize
The Society for Political Didactics and Political Youth and Adult Education has been awarding the Ursula Book Prize, named after the publisher of Wochenschau Verlag, since 2008 . The prize, donated by the publisher, is awarded every three years to outstanding young scientists in the areas of teaching / learning research and political didactics.
