Peter Massing

Peter Massing (born April 10, 1946 in Dessau ) is a German political scientist .

From 1966 to 1973 Massing studied political science, sociology , economics , psychology , history and journalism at the universities of Mainz and Hamburg ; In 1973 he obtained his diploma in political science. In 1977 he received his PhD from the University of Hamburg with a thesis on democracy theory. phil. PhD . From 1978 to 1986 Massing worked as a research assistant and later as a university assistant for educational policy and educational planning at the Free University of Berlin ; then until 1989 as editor and from 1989 to 2004 as head of the department for political education at the Otto Suhr Institute for Political Science . From 2002 until his retirement in 2014 he held the chair for social studies and didactics of politics at the Otto Suhr Institute of the Free University of Berlin, and has been a senior professor there since then.
