The location on Hellersdorfer Straße was too small for the volunteer fire department and the professional fire department . That is why they looked for a suitable location for the professional fire brigade and found a suitable plot of land on the east-west axis B 1, but as part of the restructuring for Berlin they wanted to move away from the large fire stations and towards many small locations. In June 2000, the former building of police section 71 Kummerower Ring 80 ( ) was proposed as a new location. To this end, a modified requirements program was submitted in 2001. In April 2004 the building permit was applied for with an estimated cost of 4.5 million euros, an audit by the Federal Audit Office showed that the costs must be reduced; then they amounted to 3.5 million euros. Construction of the new building began on August 22, 2005 and the topping-out ceremony was celebrated on November 18, 2005. The new location has a usable area of 1300 m² and a vehicle hall with five vehicle stands. Only 2.56 million euros were spent on the construction work.
