Wojciech Bartnik

Wojciech Stanisław Bartnik (born December 2, 1967 in Oleśnica ) is a former Polish boxer . Bartnik was a bronze medalist at the 1996 European Championships and the 1992 Olympic Games . He was also a participant in the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games .

Career

amateur

Bartnik was ten times Polish champion in 1990 and 1992-2000.

In 1992 Bartnik took part in the light heavyweight division (up to 81 kg) at the European Olympic qualification tournament in Berck-sur-Mer and fought for the fifth and last European quota place. At the 1992 Olympic Games , Bartnik celebrated the greatest success of his career as an amateur. After victories over Alexander Gonzalez, Puerto Rico (6: 3), Mohamed Benguesmia, Algeria (14: 3), and Ángel Espinosa , Cuba (9: 3), he reached the semi-finals, which he beat against the eventual Olympic champion Torsten May , Germany 6: 8 lost, which he won the Olympic bronze medal.

On February 3, 2001 Bartnik, already 33 years old, played his first professional heavyweight fight against Marek Oravsky, which he won by technical knockout in the 3rd round. In 2001 he won five more fights against opponents who were building up, another was a draw before he lost his first fight over 10 rounds against Roman Kovalchuk on points. Two more wins later he lost on points to Tomasz Bonin, who was unbeaten in 15 fights, in a six-round fight. Bartnik played his 13th fight against Richel Hersisia, unbeaten in 17 fights, whom he lost on points in 8 rounds, and his 16th against Albert Sosnowski , against whom he had to admit defeat on points after six rounds and in the fifth round went to the ground. After this series of failures, Bartnik switched to cruiserweight and was able to win his next 16 fights by the end of his career in 2010, although there were no notable opponents to be found among them. In 2006 he won the international Polish championship title, which he defended once, and in 2008 the "international title" of the rather insignificant WBF association.

On the balance sheet of Wojciech Bartnik's professional career there are 31 fights, of which he won 26, 10 of them by knockout, and lost four. One fight ended in a draw.
