Wojnarowa is a village in the Korzenna municipality in the Nowosądecki powiat of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland .
geography
The place is located on the left bank of the Biała River in the Rożnów Mountains . The neighboring towns are Wilczyska in the northwest (Jeżów) and west, Krużlowa Niżna and Chodorowa in the south, Korzenna and Niecew in the west, and Lipnica Wielka and Jankowa in the north.
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1300. The possessive name (the suffix -owa) is derived from the personal name Wojnar (German Woiner or Wagner ).
Politically and administratively the village belonged to the Kingdom of Poland (from 1569 in the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania ), Krakow Voivodeship , Biecz District . From 1416 it belonged to the Jeżewski family of the Strzemię coat of arms, and from 1522–1581 to Marcin Bylina. During the Reformation around 1600 there was a Protestant community there.
During the first partition of Poland , Wojnarowa came to the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804).
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Wojnarowa came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .
From 1975 to 1998 Vojnarowa was part of the Nowy Sącz Voivodeship .
In 2011 a Roman Catholic parish was established.
